SOUGHTOUT EMEKA MATTHEW
“Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1
It is not compulsory that one can be overtaken in a fault. So, chose to live a life full of faults. But peradventure, a particular fault overtakes, it may take you away from the faith, His fellowship, ministry, etc. That’s how powerful a fault can be!
One thing i find uninteresting to the church is the ministry of restoring to the faith, to God, to the ministry, etc those overtaken by a fault or the other. Instead, the church goes blowing it up in their preaching, in the social media and other media platforms. They goes a separatist. They have nothing to do with those overtaken with a fault. They treats them like an outcast. They judge and condemn them and so on and so forth.
The church likes to rejoice and keep talking and gossiping when they see a christian leader or a believer in other denomination that is not theirs and even in their denomination overtaken in a fault. This is a sign of lack of love among the brethren.
Pro_10:12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Pro_17:9 He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends.
Well, these kind of treatments are signs to show how canal many believers and most of of our churches and leaders are. Paul taught that those who are spiritual can’t behave such way rather with the spirit of meekness, they weeps, mourns and go restoring as such as are overtaken in a fault. They puts themselves in their shoes, knowing fully well that no one is immune of temptation and falling into any manner of sin.
You might not be overtaken in a fault of lying but you may be overtaken in a fault of cheat, and the list goes on. For the fact your fault is not revealed doesn’t mean there is no fault you’re battling to overcome.
David never rejoiced when he heard from a position seeker the news on how king Saul fell rather he dealt with him, was broken, he mourned for the anointed of God, the mighty, the beauty of Israel and enjoined folks not to publish the news, even to the hearing of the uncircumcised folks that had not part in the covenant of Jehovah God of Israel, see 2 Samuel 1:20.
Finally, little did canal Christians who finds the fault of others, who castigates and segregates against those overtaken in a fault know that they are exposing themselves to be tempted by so doing.
A word is enough for the wise, BE A RESTORER OF THOSE OVERTAKEN IN A FAULT and not A JUDGE WHO FINDS FAULT AND CONDEMNS AN OFFENDER IN A CASE. Don’t send them to hell twice through unhealthy attitudes; but pull them out of it by encouraging them through the word of God to overcome guilt and self condemnation. Pray regularly for them. Visit them and try to take them to fellowships and church meetings.
Don’t try to make yourself a superman or superwoman before them as though you have no sin in your life, see 1 John 1:8. Always meditate on the Apostle Paul teaching which says: “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” 1 Cor. 10:12. This will enable you be a restorer and not a judge.
So at this point, would you like to be a judge or a restorer of those overtaken in a fault?
