LOOK UP

INTRODUCTION:

One of the reasons God touches us is to make us look up. His touch alone cannot earn us the restoration we need. We need to look us so we can experience His restoration power and see things in a clear and right perspective.

The Bible says,

Mar_8:25  After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.

It will interest you to know that help doesn’t come from abroad rather it comes from above and from Him that sits up above. David recognized this fact and he finally declared that he will cease to look up to hills, meaning those highly placed and look up to God the maker of heaven and the earth from which help comes from.

Psa 121:1-2 (ERV) I look up to the hills, but where will my help really come from? My help will come from the LORD, the Creator of heaven and earth.

Take note of this!

For what is from above to come down to us, we have to look up.

WHAT IT MEANS TO LOOK UP

 To look up simply means:

  • TO SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE

Col 3:2 Keep your mind on the higher things, not on the things of earth.

  • TO PUT ALL OF YOUR EXPECTATIONS ON GOD
  • TO RELY ON GOD,
  • TO FIX YOUR ATTENTION TO GOD, ETC.

It is crucial to understand that when you look up, God looks down. He looks down to bless you. He looks down to restore you. He looks down to help you also.

LOOKING UP THROUGH PRAYER

Prayer is a spiritual means of communication. By it we talk to God and God talks back to us. By it we look up to God and God looks down to bless us.

You have no right to look up when you never direct your prayers unto God.

The Psalmist said:

Psa_5:3  My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Anyone who that never directs his or her prayer to God and look up to Him will not be heard of Him. That’s what the above scripture is teaching: direct your prayers to God, look up to Him and then you will have Him hear you. You need Him to hear you, don’t you? I know you do. So, directing your prayers to Him is not enough to earn you answers to your prayers; you need to look up…. look up to Him.

HINDRANCE TO LOOKING UP

One great hindrance to looking up… I mean, looking up to God is INIQUITY.

The Psalmist confirmed:

Psa_40:12  For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.

When you never deal with sin issues and pray, you may not have the gut to look up. This is God have not heard your prayer.

Psa_5:3  My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

So, sin issues must be dealt with so that God will hear the voice of prayer directed to Him and then, we have the audacity to look up and receive our restorations.

Psa_66:18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me

Won’t you like to look up?
