6 THINGS THAT LEADS TO SUCCESS

6 THINGS THAT LEADS TO SUCCESS
By SOUGHTOUT E. MATTHEW

INTRODUCTION:

Success means different thing to different kind of people. To some it means getting married. To some it means getting a good job. To some it means building a dream house. To some it means winning a fight or a game. To some it means passing exams. To some it means saving a particular amount of money. To some it means travelling to a new destination. To some it means starting a business. To some it means achieve a dream, etc. so, to everyone, whether as an individual or a group of people or a team there is what success means to us.

In this article I will be sharing with you on 6 common factors that lead to success. Although what one succeeds on may be different from another; but these factors I will be sharing with you right here common with the successful. And they are:

1. BELIEF:
What is belief? For a broader understanding, it means something believed. It means an opinion or conviction of someone or some people. It is having confidence in the truth or existence of something not immediately susceptible to rigorous proof. It is synonymous to the word confidence; faith; trust. It is also a religious tenet or tenets; religious creed or faith.

Successful people have something they believed. They believe they will succeed in the pursuit. They believe they will achieve what they dreams and pursue. They don’t pursue a course without having a belief. In fact belief forms the bedrock of their pursuit.

Belief is indispensible to success just as foundation is to every building. It breeds the confidence, faith and trust you need to become successful in every pursuit in life. Besides that, it also gives you a conviction that your dream is achievable and you have what it takes to achieve it. It makes you come up with opinion that people may or may not agree with you; but you know for sure that what you set out to achieve is possible and that you can. Just like the Wright brothers that told their dad they will make a plane, he rebuked them sharply, saying they are crazy for their idea no one had ever tried it and to him it was impossible. But today, the Wright brothers dream had come through just because they believed they can and it is possible. They believe their dream existed. They are seeing it in their mind. They are seeing the reality in their mind. This is what belief does; it brings the existence or the reality of your dreams in your mind. You keep on seeing it through the eyes of faith; but someone who does not believe what you believe will be seeing nothing but impossibilities.

2. DEFINITENESS OF PURPOSE:
Purpose gives the success substance to achieve. Where there is no purpose, there will be no aim. This is because; purpose gives you what to aim at.

For you to become successful, you must take up a definite purpose. Having divers purposes to achieve at the same time will make you end up like one chasing two rabbits at the same time.

When you have a definite purpose, you can direct you strengths, resources, etc towards achieving it. Again, having definite purpose you want to achieve will make you to be discipline enough to deal with distractions and remain focus to your main course regardless of how appealing the things that want to distract you are.

Here are the words of the apostle Paul in the subject of having a definite purpose:

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway”. 1 Corinthians 9:24,26-27

“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. Philippians 3:13-14

A man with definite purpose don’t allow achievement of the past to make him become a victim of complacency rather he keep them behind him and press forward towards the achievement of the purpose on ground.

3. PASSION:
Every car has what drives it. Every machine has what drives it too. In the same manner, every successful person has what drives him or her to pursue his/her dream and have them realized; and that driving force is called PASSION.

Passion is what fuel the dreamer and drives him/her until what is being dreamt comes true. As no vehicle cannot start or move an inch without fuel being in it; you will lack motivation and drive to get your dream realize.

There have not been any successful person without passion to succeed in what he/she dreams to achieve and there will never be one.

How soon ones give up a dream is determined by how strong his/her passion is. Weak passion gives up easily; but strong passion don’t.

Those who do well in every field of life do well not because; they are skillful; but it is because they are passionate in what they are doing.

4. HARD WORK:
Success answers to hard work and if you are not in for hard work, you soon be enrolled into hard life.

Another word for hard work is diligent. The Bible reveals that what distinguishes those who stand before kings and those who stand before mean men is traceable to diligence.

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”. Proverbs 22:29

Successful people apply diligence virtually in everything and they increase in their diligence.

“And we have sent with them our brother, whom we have oftentimes proved diligent in many things, but now much more diligent, upon the great confidence which I have in you”. 2 Corinthians 8:22

The successful are diligent in their thoughts, in their search in their substance, in their business or pursuits, etc.

“I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with mine own heart: and my spirit made diligent search”. Psalm 77:6

“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich”. Proverbs 10:4

“The slothful man roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious”. Proverbs 12:27

“The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want”. Proverbs 21:5

“Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds”. Proverbs 27:23

“Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”. Proverbs 22:29

For the above scriptures, you can make up your mind to become diligent in all you do. This is because; there is nothing one can achieve by being slothful other than poverty, low status and failed dreams. But by being diligent you can achieve a lot in life.

5. FOCUS:
The acronym F.O.C.U.S means Follow One Course Until Successful. This tells you what successful people do. They chose one course, followed it with all their strength, might, resource, etc until they are successful in it before choosing another course.

Nothing makes your pursuit path dark like having double focus. Jesus revealed that:

“The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness”. Luke 11:34

Focus is knowing what you want to achieve and moving forward to achieving it. The challenge of being focus is distraction. The success tries to avoid being distracted. They make sure that nothing shifts their attention towards what they are pursuing.

Gideon is a good case study on the subject of focus and we can see that in the Bible book of Judges Chapter 8 verses 4-17:

“And Gideon came to Jordan, and passed over, he, and the three hundred men that were with him, faint, yet pursuing them. And he said unto the men of Succoth, Give, I pray you, loaves of bread unto the people that follow me; for they be faint, and I am pursuing after Zebah and Zalmunna, kings of Midian. And the princes of Succoth said, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thine army? And Gideon said, Therefore when the LORD hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers. And he went up thence to Penuel, and spake unto them likewise: and the men of Penuel answered him as the men of Succoth had answered him. And he spake also unto the men of Penuel, saying, When I come again in peace, I will break down this tower. Now Zebah and Zalmunna were in Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword. And Gideon went up by the way of them that dwelt in tents on the east of Nobah and Jogbehah, and smote the host: for the host was secure. And when Zebah and Zalmunna fled, he pursued after them, and took the two kings of Midian, Zebah and Zalmunna, and discomfited all the host. And Gideon the son of Joash returned from battle before the sun was up, And caught a young man of the men of Succoth, and enquired of him: and he described unto him the princes of Succoth, and the elders thereof, even threescore and seventeen men. And he came unto the men of Succoth, and said, Behold Zebah and Zalmunna, with whom ye did upbraid me, saying, Are the hands of Zebah and Zalmunna now in thine hand, that we should give bread unto thy men that are weary? And he took the elders of the city, and thorns of the wilderness and briers, and with them he taught the men of Succoth. And he beat down the tower of Penuel, and slew the men of the city”. Judges 8:4-17

In the above scenario, if Gideon had paid attention to the tiredness and refusal of food by the men of Succoth and Penuel, he wouldn’t have lost focus and Zebah and Zalumunna would have escaped. So, he left those secondary issues and went after his focus. It was when he came back after realizing his dream, that he started handling the secondary issues, which was dealing with the elders of Succoth and Penuel.

6. PERSISTENCE:
There is nothing one can succeed with ease. Behind every success are challenges. They come to resist you from becoming successful in your pursuit. But until you persist in doing things that will lead you to success, you can’t resist things that come to stop you from achieving your dreams.

There is no letter that will be sent to a far destination without being enclosed in an addressed and stamped envelope. Persistence is like a stamp on an envelope, it sticks on it until it arrives to the addressed destination.

Nothing will land you into the reality of your dream world like persistence. No matter the challenges or how hard they hit on you, don’t quit. Quitters are not winners and winners are not quitters. Winners don’t throw in the towel it doesn’t matter how badly they are hit. They never give up until they are successful. They hold on until they land to the shore of success of what they are pursuing.

They don’t give in to dissuasion and discouragements. They don’t give in to threats and fear. They don’t give in failures and impossibilities. They believe they can and they keep on behaving like the people who can.

Friend, when you give up, you fails; but hold on you will surely succeed. Even when you are down, do not accept defeat. You can rise and win if you can rise up and keep fighting.

Let me leave you with this food for thought from Micah which he let out this word to his enemy:

“Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me”. Micah 7:8
